It's always amazing how I feel after waiting so long and planning so much when the day arrives. For me getting their is much of my vacations and this one will be even more so. I finally got to travel in First Class on a 777 yesterday from Los Angeles to Miami and it was incredible. Will be very hard going by to coach :-( I even got to sit the captains seat and get my picture taken. Haven't done that since I was a child on a flight from Spokane to Seattle. However, the captain would not let me sit on his lap this time (humor!) They couldn't find luggage for 20 or so including me for an hour after we arrived late into Miami airport. All is well now and the hotel was comfortable last night.

The Epic is NCL's largest ship and second largest cruise ship in the world. I am on deck 12 aft and think I made the right choice if we do have sea's. Its pouring down rain and breezy in Miami right now. I need to get down stairs and take the shuttle to the ship. We depart at 4pm! Remember to toast the Titanic tonight as she hit the ice berg at 11:40 April 14, 1912 (100 yrs ago) and slipped beneath the waves at 2:20am with 1500+ souls on board. I'll make sure that does not happen on our voyage cuz I'll on the mast crows nest look out with a big flashlight, binoculars!

Bon Voyage for now and please stay tuned!

Just got my travel hammock and think it will be perfect on my ship balcony to really enjoy an unobstructed view of the hipnotic swirl of ocean created by the thrust of the ships twin screws pushing 155,000 Gross Tons of metal, glass and humanity across the mighty Atlantic Ocean. I have never been so excited and relaxed before a trip and it feels really good! Taking my bottle of Amorone Italian wine I got in Florence in 2008 so it will have traveled half way around the world before I finally enjoyed it. Travel makes everything better, right!?
Almost 19 days now but who's counting!

Now its Five Cabins Later

You know when you see something and you can't get it out of your head. Well...

When I first booked I was thrilled that they finally had solo cabins for individual travelers that did not mean doubling the price. I booked the 100 sq ft inside Solo Studio and was very happy. Now 5 cabins later I am in a large balcony Aft facing cabin and it pays to pester your travel agent. 11 Days crossing the Atlantic and possible rough seas in an inside tiny room did not sound like a memory I needed after Peru :-(
We are 44 days out from cruise and I just order flowers because I really like them when traveling especially alone in a cabin in the middle of the ocean. I reserved several of the shows on board like Blue Man Group, Second City Comedy, Cirque & Dinner and the French Bistro. Tight budget so have to watch the extra's.

As far as I can see I'm ready to go sort of!

Went from Studio room on NCL Epic Ship on deck 11 to Inside room deck 12 to Balcony room on deck 8 and now Balcony deck 9. Wish I could funagle an Aft facing balcony on 11 or 12! I'm very happy with extra 100 sq ft of space, nice layout and of course a balcony to watch the ocean go by. I'm going to sleep like a baby. Can't believe how much I miss the ocean!

50 Days to Sailing Buts Who's Counting

You Can Book Ship Entertainment Reservations 45 Day From Sailing

The ship I will be traveling on for 11 days is the Norweign Cruise Line's largest ship the "Epic". The ship is a resort at sea with over 4000 passengers and nearly 1800 crew while rising 18 floors above the water. I originally booked one of the new concept Solo passenger cabins that only NCL offers. Normally you would have to pay at least 1.5 times the single passenger cabin catagory price with many requiring you pay for the full two passenger price which is rediculous and cost prohibitive for me. In checking further with NCL I noticed that for $35.00 more I could book a regular interior room that can accomodate 2 adults and is 30 square feet larger with much less crampted layout. Cool, because I don't have a window!

The ship has over 20 dining options, two 3 lane bowling alleys, Cirque Dreams and Dinner, Murder Mystery Lunch Theater, Huge outdoor video screen and celebrity guest DJ turn the top aft of the ship into an Ibiza style beach club, Blue Man Group, The Second City® comedy troupe, a state-of-the-art fitness center, the huge Aqua Park with several 3 story tube style water slides, hot tubs, climbing and rappelling walls, bars and lounges of all kinds and of course a Casino. Only problem is lots of people living very close together and possible Norovirus. I'm very excited to have a chance to relax and meet new people who also enjoy travel. Will be looking for tips for my stay in Barcelona from my fellow passengers. In an effort to save money I am trying to organize a private tour when we arrive Barcelona that will also drop us off at our hotels. Just need 6 more fellow passengers!
